Early September Update

Hey all! Due to the aforementioned illness etc, we ended up running a couple weeks behind. Still, progress is good. Creatures are nearly done and moving on to the Petty Gods and servitors some time this week. I intend to have this to editing by the end of the month and to print sometime in October, likely mid to late. Addtionally, I changed the title of the book, due to there being a couple Creature Collections already, the book will now be the Creature Companion. Here are some cover mock ups for this edition. This cover with Evlyn's art will be a one and done. After this printing I will be changing the cover to match the new look of the Gateway to Adventure product line (more on that in a future update!) Here is the current mock up pics.

Late August Update, and Our Other Project

Hello everyone!

Due to a bout of COVID-19 in the house, our work has slowed, but only slightly. Work continues on all of the beasties and things that go bump in the night! 

As an addition to this update, our ZQ4 project has not gone as well as planned. If  the Zines With Class project does not fund we will be re-launching sometime in early September as a bit of a bigger project. 

The idea behind the project will be to bring a Gateway To Adventure "trilogy" of supplemental materials to OSE in A5 book format (hopefully in hardcover.) They will fit on a shelf right alongside your copy of Creature Collection. Each will present new options for an implied setting and way of play, not unlike what is being done with Creature Collection. The gist of each is this:

Class Compendium: This will provide the new classes that were to have been featured in Zines With Class. Additionally, it will compile some of the classes we have featured in other works and the additional rules that make them work. We will also have 2 page spreads covering existing classes from OSE and Advanced OSE, not reprinting already existing materials, but presenting additional lore and rules options to spice things up. Things like variations for thieves skills, deity favored weapons for clerics etc. There will be stretch goals to add casting classes with entirely new systems of magic, not based in the Vancian "fire & forget" styles found in OSE and other clones.

Combat Conspectus:  This work with provide new rules options for combat. These will include, fighting styles, to spice up your fighters, tactical formations (such as rules for forming shield walls,) alternative initiative systems, etc. As a stretch goal we will add a full section on running fantasy tournaments, from Melee one on one combats to rules for jousting and target shooting, amongst others!

Caster's Codex:  This will be the grimoire of the Gateway To Adventure series. The new spells for new classes will be featured, along with expanded lists for existing classes. New magic rules will be featured here as well, such as our Ritual Magic system, as presented in Octhorrorfest and Hidden Hand of the Horla expanded edition. New rules that are tied to classes in the Class Compendiums, such as Blood Magic and Blight Magic will be found here as well, along with any new magic systems unlocked with new class stretch goals.

So, this is just a small look at our plans for the future. Much of this will be released another time, if we do happen to fund Zines with Class (which will be a limited edition release.)

Anyway, since we started this update by listing things that go bump in the night, here is a pair to whet your appetite.

August Update 1

Hello everyone!

Just updating you to let you know that writing progresses on the Creature Catalog. Additionally Stacie Joy has a cover in the works for the Duck Zine, which I think all of our BX fans are going to enjoy a great deal. I intend to share this as soon as she get's the completed work to me.

As of now, it looks like I should be done with CC1's writing early September (fingers crossed) and get it off to editing at that time. If that happens I should, hopefully, be getting things off to the printer by early October at latest, at which point I will also distribute PDFs.

Here are a couple of sample critters to wet your appetite!

Hey folks!

Just a quick update to let you know, writing continues to progress in the main book and both zines.  Bringing me up to the main point of this update, letting you know what your bonus zines are. You have lots of ref facing content coming to you in the main book, monsters, gods, clerical orders... so the zines are something player facing. Some folks have been asking up the promised update of the four classes in our "Lost Classes: The Arnesonian Classes" zine. Well, the two bonus zines update 2 of those.  Your bonus zines will be for: Duck Folk (featuring a race as class and advanced race) and The Merchant, a merchant adventurer class. I am letting you know that you are getting these because A.) You all deserve to know and B.) The first week of August our Zine Quest 4 Kickstarter will drop and both of these are add ons. 

And as backers of this, I give you a first preview of the new project!
